The monument was built between 1898 and 1900. The government of that time wanted to convert the Orsay Station into a hotel, which caused outrage in the country. After the public reaction, the hotel plan was abandoned. The Orsay Museum contains sculptures, paintings, furniture, and photographs, mostly of French art, created between 1848 and 1915. Operating hours: The Orsay Museum is open every Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (17:00), except for 1 January, 1 May, and 25 December.

During peak seasons, expect lines at security checkpoints. Please note that your ticket does not provide priority access. In the busiest periods, entry may take longer than usual.
